Morecambe land Newcastle United keeper on season-long loan deal
Morecambe have made their fifth signing of the summer with the loan arrival of Newcastle United keeper Jake Turner.
The 21-year-old has joined the Shrimps on a season-long deal and will provide competition for Mark Halstead.
A former England U18 and U19 international, Turner was previously at Bolton Wanderers before moving to the North East a year ago.
“It’s good to be here and I'm happy to get it all done,” he told the club website.
“I can’t wait to get going and for the season to begin now.”
Morecambe boss Derek Adams added: “Jake is a highly rated young goalkeeper who will challenge for the number one jersey. We look forward to working with him.”
Turner’s signing continues a busy week which has seen the signings of Stephen Hendrie, Harry Davis, Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Liam McAlinden.
