Morecambe Ladies will play their FA Cup third round tie at the Globe Arena.
Usually based at Lancaster and Morecambe College, Nick Barrett’s side will host Stoke City Ladies on Sunday, February 1, at home of the men’s team after victories over Burley and Sheffield United in rounds one and two.
The game promises to be a great occasion for one of the district’s fastest-rising sports teams who currently ply their trade in the Women’s Premier League Northern Division One.
Barrett, who has also guided the Shrimpettes to the Lancashire Cup final this season, said: “At the end of the day we are a Premier North side and we’re obviously progressing but Stoke are a league above us so we’re underdogs.
“We’ll be well up for it though because I’ve got a great bunch of girls.
“It’ll be a great day out for the girls playing at the Globe and maybe if we win we can draw an even bigger team.”
Morecambe boss Jim Bentley said: “It’s great to see the ladies are doing well and hopefully they can advance to the fourth round in front of a few extra supporters.”
Kick-off on Sunday, February 1, is noon with admission £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
