Middlesbrough started brightly as Rebecca Hanratty drew the defenders across, right winger Millie Bell picked out Bianca Owens who arrived in the box and scored to make it 1-0.

It looked as if it was going to be a hard afternoon for the Ladies as Middlesbrough continued to press but Laura Callis and Beth Fisher remained organised at the back.

Morecambe managed to regroup and created a few chances of their own but just before half time Emily Scarr doubled Middlesbrough’s lead.

With the help of a poor clearance from defence, Rebecca Bass pounced on the ball and sent a stunning shot back passed Reader into the net in the second half to make it 3-0 and four minutes later captain Sammie Leigh volleyed in a fourth for Middlesbrough.

Morecambe did manage a consolation goal when Emma Kay smashed the ball home but the ladies were well beaten.
