Morecambe’s league cup heroics have seen them handed a home tie against Premier League Bournemouth in round two.
The Shrimps saw off Rotherham 5-4 in a thrilling EFL Cup clash to set up the date with Eddie Howe’s Cherries.
Bournemouth will visit the Globe Arena in the week commencing August 22 with Jim Bentley’s side hoping for another memorable night in a competition they have taken a shine to in recent years.
The last time the Cherries made the trip from the south coast to the resort The Shrimps famously won 5-0 in League 2 back in December 2009.
Current Shrimps stopper Barry Roche started in goal while boss Bentley was an unused substitute.
