At present, given the coronavirus pandemic, the EFL has suspended football until April 30 at the earliest with nine games of the Shrimps’ League Two campaign still to be played.

Many issues remain to be addressed – not least how to fit in those remaining games and the playing contracts that are due to expire – but Kenyon has another altogether more pressing concern.

“No-one knows if and when the league is going to finish,” he said.

“There are rumours going around that quite a few leagues are saying they will finish.

“It’s a difficult time for everyone with contracts being up in the summer.

“On top of that, I’m meant to be having a wedding on May 30 which may or may not go ahead now!

“There are rumours they are going to try and push for it to finish on that weekend if they start it when they want to and play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday – perhaps with a Thursday game as well.

“They want to finish it so they can get the play-offs done before contracts run out but, at the same time, I’m not so sure they’ll be finished by May 30 because no-one knows for definite how long we’ll be out of action for.”
