Morecambe boss Jim Bentley could have something of a defensive headache at Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Adam Dugdale is definitely out as he continues to battle a foot injury while Chris Doyle and Andy Parrish are doubtful.

Doyle has had stitches in a knee injury picked up against AFC Wimbledon last Saturday while Parrish’s wife went into labour on Thursday morning meaning he could be unavailable.

The game could also come too soon for Aaron Wildig as he looks to recover from a persistent hamstring problem.

Bentley said: “Dugdale’s had a foot problem and it’s still in a boot.

“Andy Parrish’s wife’s has gone into labour so whether we see him this weekend or not we’ll have to wait and see.

“Doyle’s got a cut to his knee and is on antibiotics because you can get an infection.

“The cut was quite deep so we’ll have to see how he is.

“We’re hoping Wildig will be able to up his training but whether it comes too soon or not we’ll have to wait and see.

“Laurence Wilson got a knock in the reserves on Tuesday too but whoever goes out will know what they’re up against and we’ll be asking them to express themselves and contribute to what will hopefully be a decent result for us.”

Youngster Doyle in particular has impressed in recent weeks having seized his opportunity at the heart of the defence.

Bentley said: “He’s done excellent.

“At the start of the season we had to get him out on loan and he went to Chorley for a second spell and did well.

“He’s had one or two niggles since he came back but he’s bided his time and when his opportunity has come he’s grabbed it with both hands.

“He’s really stepped on the gas and produced some really good performances against very good strikers.

“But he’s picked up an injury on Saturday which is unfortunate.”
