Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is hoping to bring in a loan player to boost his depleted squad.

The Football League loan window opened on Tuesday and the Shrimps chief is looking to secure a temporary deal.

Chris McCready joined Jack Redshaw on the treatment table after having surgery on a broken collarbone and is set to be out for two to three months.

Robbie Threlfall will also start a three-game ban at Newport on Saturday after his sending off in the victory over Southend, meaning Bentley currently has just three frontline defenders available.

The Shrimps boss said: “There’s nothing you can do about the absences. You can’t affect it.

“We’re doing okay at the moment and hopefully we can continue to do that.

“But we’re having a good look at the loan market and hoping that we might be able to do something.”
