Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was pleased with new signing Chris Holroyd after giving him his debut as a second-half substitute against Cheltenham on Friday night.
The game also marked the home debut of another new boy, Ryan Williams, who played the final quarter of an hour.
Bentley said: “I think Chris did well as soon as he came on.
“He looked sharp, got the ball down, was willing to run at defenders and got a shot in on target.
“He showed some nice touches and is a little bit different to what we’ve got, he likes to go in behind.
“It was Ryan Williams’ home debut as well. He’s come in and showed some nice touches and I think both of them will be good additions to the squad.
“They’re good professionals who work really hard, and they both bring something different.”
The game represented the fourth Globe Arena goalless draw of the season but Bentley is confident his forwards will come good, with Holroyd having a role to play in that.
He said: “It proves we’re hard to beat but we need to start putting the ball in the back at the net at the other end which is the hardest thing to do in football.
“We’ve got players who can do it. Lewis Alessandra’s playing very well at the minute and there’s also Kevin Ellison, Jack Redshaw, Jordan Burrow and now Chris Holroyd. so in time we will get goals.”
