The Shrimps led early on through Shaun Miller only for Josh Windass’ double to turn the game on its head as Stanley looked to keep up their automatic promotion push.

Tom Barkhuizen broke clear 11 minutes from time to ensure the game ended honours even however.

Bentley said: “We very virtually mathematically safe before today but we’ve had a poor season for one reason or another.

“We had a great win at home against them earlier in the season and coming here today we wanted to make amends for a terrible result last week.

“We wanted to put it right and credit where credit’s due, they battled away and gave it their all.

“I’ve never seen so many bags of ice as I’ve seen in the dressing room as I have today.

“We started the game well and went in front through a fantastic goal from Shaun Miller.

“They’ve warmed into the game and in Windass they’ve got a terrific player who’s had a fantastic season for them.

“He’s put away a great finish and from then it was toing and froing and end-to-end.

“I’m desperately disappointed with how we started the second half with the lead up to the penalty.

“They put it away but Tom Barkhuizen showed great composure to make it 2-2.

“I’ve bemoaned a little bit of luck this season but we definitely rode our luck because how that stayed out of our net in injury time I’ll never know.

“Overall I think it was a fair result and a good derby match where both sets of players had a right good go.”
