Jim Bentley hailed Kevin Ellison’s wonder goal against Rochdale as the best he’d ever seen.
Ellison celebrated signing a new one-year contract by doubling his side’s lead with a stunning 35-yard volley on the hour mark.
The Shrimps boss had brought on Ellison just five minutes earlier and even admitted he wanted the former Rotherham man to pass, rather than shoot.
Bentley said: “It’s the best goal I’ve ever seen at any level.
“People talked about the Aldershot goal (last season) but today’s had better technique to get over it.
“The Aldershot one he was coming onto it more and today he’s had to get his body round more to keep it down.
“It shows what I know because I was in the dugout telling him to pass it but it’s an unbelievable strike and it’s the killer goal.”
The wonder strike ended Keith Hill’s side’s resistance with Andy Fleming sealing the 3-0 victory three minutes later.
Bentley said: “It knocked the wind out of their sails.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game because they’ve got a new manager in Keith Hill.
“He’s made some good signings and they’ve got the main man Bobby Grant who was back today and he played well.
“There wasn’t much in it but the game totally changed on that unbelievable strike.
“I go on about fine lines and today fortunately Kev has pulled one out of the bag to just settle everyone down.
“I’ve got to mention the third goal as well because there’s some great football in there.
“Three great goals, a clean sheet, Chris Doyle getting his league debut, everything’s gone for us today and it’s very pleasing.
“It’s one defeat in five months at home now so it’s pleasing for the fans too.
“We just need to keep working hard and try to win every game from now until the end of the season and see where it takes us.”
