Morecambe boss Bentley: We can be first team to win at Shrewsbury

Micky Mellon’s side are unbeaten at home in League 2 but the Shrimps will be confident heading into the clash.

They have performed better against the division’s top sides this season and go into the game on the back of a 3-0 win over Luton last time out. 
Bentley said: “There’s no better team at home this season.

“It’s a challenge, a good test for us. We’re doing okay ourselves at the moment, you can see the confidence and the momentum in the lads at the minute.

“If we’re at our best, we’ll certainly give them a good game and we’re going there to win.

“They’re one of the top sides and I think they’ll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

“I imagine they’ll be in the top three. They were relegated but have strengthened their squad.

“They’ve got a new manager in and are doing fantastically well.

“I know Micky Mellon personally, he’s a good lad, one of the better managers in the league.

“I get on with him, know how he works and he’s doing a great job there.

“Somebody’s got to win there though and there’s no reason why it can’t be us.”

Bentley will be back in the dugout at New Meadow after missing the win over Luton through illness.

He said: “Thankfully I’ve got good backroom staff around me.

“They deserve massive credit. Ken (McKenna, assistant manager) stepped into my boots and got them all going ready for the game.

“There was Lee Jones, Simon Farnworth and Chris Squirrell in the dugout as well and I’m thankful to all them for stepping up and making sure the players were professional about their jobs.

“It was a fantastic result for us all.”

The Shrimps have no new injury worries with Andy Fleming, knee, Jack Sampson, ankle and Andy Wright, groin, all still missing.
