Morecambe boss Bentley: Transfer movements “developing”

The prospect of player movement at Morecambe looks increasingly likely as a barren transfer window draws to a close.

The Shrimps’ budget means there have been no new arrivals at the club with boss Jim Bentley needing players to leave before any signings can be made.

The Shrimps boss however says interest in a couple of his players is “developing” as he looks to freshen up his Globe Arena squad.

Bentley said: “We’ve had a little bit of interest in one or two of our players going out on loan.

“We’ve had it over the last couple of weeks but it just seems to be developing a little more.

“If one does go we’ve got one or two targets lined up.

“There’s been movement at other clubs so we’ve missed out on a couple but there’s still one or two players knocking around who could strengthen us if we can do something.

“There’s a few days left and then there’s obviously the loan window that opens afterwards.”

Former Fleetwood striker Jamie Allen continues to train with the club but would not necessarily be the new face with Bentley also looking at other targets.

He said: “We want to have a look at him (Allen) in a game situation but with the weather last week the reserve team game at Wrexham was called off.

“We’ve not been able to organise one this week so it’s been a little bit difficult.

“We’re hoping to have a look at him and see what he’s all about.

“We know he’s a decent enough player but we’ll see what’s what.

“We need to find the right person in the right area to improve us.
“We do have our targets and we’ve spoken to people about so if we need to act we can do quickly.
“We’ll see what happens.”
