Jim Bentley believes Shaun Miller is back to his best after scoring his second goal in two games at Wycombe on Saturday.
The striker’s Shrimps career burst into life with seven goals in quick succession seeing him pick up the October player of the month award.
After a quiet November the former Crewe man has impressed in the games against Notts County and at Adams Park, where he opened the scoring in a 2-0 win, as Morecambe picked up four points on the road either side of the new year.
Bentley said: “We’re not blessed to go out and get the players that are proven, playing year on year.
“He’s lost his way over the last couple of years and found himself on the scrapheap.
“We sold (Jack) Redshaw and were looking for someone to replace him and it’s hard to expect him to come straight in and go from one extreme to the other and keep stringing minutes back-to-back but as time goes on he’s getting stronger and fitter.
“We know that he’s got qualities, he’s on nine goals now.
“He’s missed a penalty, he’s hit the woodwork a couple of times, missed a couple of one-on-ones, he could easily be around the 15 goals mark.
“He has had a cruciate knee ligament injury (when at Sheffield United) and we’ve got to do what’s right by him.
“He got player and the month and then dipped a little which is going to happen but he seems to be coming right back into form now.
“He’s looking a top player.”
