The Shrimps were deservedly 2-1 to the good at the break but had to survive a tense second period to ensure they took all three points at the Globe Arena on Tuesday night.

Bentley said: “The main thing tonight was winning.

“We started really well, scored a good goal from a set piece (through Paul Mullin) and then Kev’s (Ellison) got in and I thought we were well worthy of being the two goals up.

“It could have been a couple more but their ‘keeper made a couple of good saves.

“I was really pleased with how it was going but it only takes a little moment and we lost the ball in the middle of the park, they broke and got the free-kick and put it away.

“Second half it was virtually all them after making two substitutions at half-time.

“They’re a big, strong physical side and put plenty of balls in the box but I thought they played some good football as well.

“We’ve defended well when we had to, Stav’s (Andreas Arestidou) made one or two saves but when you haven’t won for a bit there’s that nervous edge.

“I was nervous as hell in the dugout, the players were and the crowd were getting jittery but that happens.

“But in the end we take the win. We needed it.”
