Jim Bentley is the Sky Bet League 2 manager of the month for August after Morecambe’s fine start to the season.
The Shrimps boss picks up his first managerial award after engineering a start that saw his side win their first four games to storm to the top of the table.
Bentley said: “As far as I’m concerned it’s an award for the players, they’ve gone over the white line and done the business for us.
“When the nominations came out I thought Kevin Ellison probably had a better chance of winning the players’ award but I’ve got it and I’m made up.
“It’s for the players and the backroom staff too.
“There’s a feel-good factor about the place at the minute and everyone’s digging in. The award is for everyone connected with the club.”
Bentley also brushed off the famous curse that usually sees managers who win the award lose their next game, with the Shrimps hosting Cheltenham Town at the Globe Arena on Saturday.
He said: “We lost last week (at Tranmere) and hopefully that’s out the way and we can get back on a winning run. “It’s nice to get the manager’s one for August because the first year we came up I got the player one for August so I’ve got one player one and one manager one now so I’m very proud and very pleased.”
