Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was delighted to tie down two key men in Andy Fleming and Kevin Ellison to new one-year contracts.
As eight players left the club at the end of their deals Fleming and Ellison’s extended stays at the Globe Arena were confirmed.
Fleming’s deal also includes the option of a further year if he makes enough appearances this season.
Bentley said: “Andy Fleming is a very good central midfielder at this level.
“He’s got the option that if he plays so many games it will trigger a second year.
“And Kev, obviously being at the age that he’s at, keeps nicking a year here and there!
“But he’s been a fantastic servant, is great round the place, is great with the group and is still a top-class footballer as well.
“It’s not just his goals what he brings to the team, it’s his all round package and he’s a big player for us.”
Bentley is in negotiations with Andreas Arestidou and Chris Doyle over new deals while Alan Goodall and Laurence Wilson have triggered further years in their contracts after making the required appearances in 2014-15.
The Shrimps boss said: “It’s one thing I think we’ve done right in my four years.
“Instead of handing out two-year deals willy nilly and a player comes in and plays three games in his first season or gets injured and you’ve then got to pick up their wages for another season, sometimes it justifies a one-year contract where it can trigger another year.
“Laurence Wilson has been very good at left back and Goody, although he didn’t play as much as he would have liked towards the end of the season, certainly put a good shift in for the majority of the season.”
