The Shrimps manager is set to sit down with his out of contract players today, Tuesday, as their futures at the Globe Arena are decided.

Bentley said: “It’s not a nice week.

“Every season a couple of players leave and a couple of players come in.

“We’ve just got to make sure whoever comes in is going to improve us as a group.

“It’s not nice, I’ve got a lot of time for the players who have played for me this season.

“I like to think I’ve got a good relationship with them.

“It is football, it’s what goes on, it’s not nice for people’s futures to be in your hands but that’s the job and I knew that when I got it.

“Big decisions have got to be made for the football club so that we can improve.”

Work is also ongoing to bring new players to the club as the Shrimps look to improve on an 11th-placed finish in League 2 next time around.

Bentley said: “There’s meetings ongoing with the chairman and the board.

“We’re not ones who can throw money at it and buy our way up.

“We’ve built year on year. We can’t go out and get all the ready-made Rileys, we’ve got to get the right people and the right blend.

“One or two tweaks here and there and I think we’ll do alright.

“If we improve on this season next season, who knows what we’re capable of.

“I’m proud of everyone involved on what has been a good season and hopefully we can kick on again.”
