Morecambe beaten to striker signing
The Shrimps offered the unnamed free agent front man a deal only for him to choose to move elsewhere.
Boss Jim Bentley is in real need of a forward having seen star man Jack Redshaw move to Blackpool.

Hide AdSpeaking after the 2-1 friendly win over Bolton on Friday night, Bentley said: “We identified someone who we thought would be good enough.
“We offered him a deal and tried to get him but unfortunately he’s chosen to go elsewhere today.”
As well as a striker, the Shrimps boss needs a back-up goalkeeper ahead of the League 2 opener at Hartlepool on August 8.
The competition for places is hotting up elsewhere, especially midfield, with Aaron Wildig making it two goals in two pre-season games after getting on the scoresheet against Bolton.

Hide AdBentley said: “We’re quite blessed with what we’ve got in there (midfield), even young Charlie Bailey has come in and is impressing.
“All over the park we’re looking okay apart from centre forward.
“When they are all fit and well I’m going to have a hell of a headache.
“There’s been some strong performances in there and I predict there will be more going into the season.
“It’s a squad game though and we’ll have injuries and suspensions as we’ve seen in the past but we’re looking decent.”
