SHRIMPS boss Sammy McIlroy has urged fans to get behind his side as they look to secure their League 2 safety at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

The Shrimps face struggling Burton Albion at the Globe knowing a win would take them closer to securing their Football League future for another season. Three points would move the Shrimps nine points clear of the Brewers at the foot of the table and take Morecambe to within one point of the magical 50 point safety target.

McIlroy said: “This is a massive game for both clubs and it is important that the crowd get right behind us.

“We all know our home form has been poor this season and it is something that has certainly baffled me.

“But the win at Rotherham on Saturday was a huge lift for the players and the fans and if we can carry that spirit and determination into this weekend’s game we can look to move a huge step closer to safety.”
