In a thrilling game the Shrimps let a two-goal lead slip but after losing Ryan Edwards to a second yellow card they battled to the end and scored a late winner through a Luke Wilkinson own goal four minutes from time.

Jack Redshaw fired Morecambe into the lead on 18 minutes.

The striker collected the ball in the area and showed great footwork to create an opening before drilling a left foot shot past Elliot Justham from 18 yards out.

The Shrimps continued to look the more threatening and added a spectacular second on the half hour.

Redshaw was again involved with a cross to the far post and defender Laurence Wilson produced a fierce left foot volley that flew into the top left hand corner of the Luton goal.

The Shrimps then should have added a third on 35 minutes when Redshaw stormed through several weak challenges to create an opening but shot straight at Justham when he should have done better.

Redshaw was made to pay for the miss when Luton pulled a goal back on 43 minutes through Cameron McGeehan.

Michael Harriman clipped in a cross from the right and the Luton midfielder ran on to the ball to direct his header past Andreas Arestidou.

The second half saw Luton start on the front foot and finally level things up on 76 minutes when Alex Lawless drilled home a shot from the edge of the area after the Shrimps failed to clear their lines.

With 10 minutes to go Edwards was sent off for a foul on McGeehan and Luton went close with Lawless denied a second by a superb Arestidou save before Wilkinson turned Kevin Ellison’s left wing cross past his own keeper to give Morecambe a memorable win.
