Lancaster City’s FA Challenge Trophy quarter-final against Ashton Athletic has been called off due to the ongoing power issues in and around the city.

The Dolly Blues were due to host the North West Counties Premier Division side at Giant Axe on Tuesday night but the problems with electricity following the weekend floods have seen in postponed.

The game will now be played next Tuesday night, December 15, meaning City’s home game against Burscough will have to be moved.

It is the third postponement in seven days for City after games against Bamber Bridge and New Mills were also called off.

Phil Brown’s side are next due to host Scarborough Athletic in the Evo-Stik First Division North on Saturday.

Club secretary Ray Coote said: “This decision has been taken as we cannot be certain there will be a reliable supply of electricity for safety lighting and as such have concerns that public safety could be compromised.

“We are confident we will be able to play our next home fixture against Scarborough Athletic.”
