LANCASTER City are flying high after making it three wins out of three with a comprehensive 4-1 victory against Ossett Town.
Goals from Danny Hattersley, Jack Duggan, Zach Clark and an own goal from Ossett full back Henson sealed the win.
However, Lancaster got off to the worst possible start.
After an even opening 20 minutes with few chances, a long throw-in from the visitors caused trouble in the City defence.
City ‘keeper Martin Fearon, halfway from rushing out to collect the ball, stopped and could only watch Duggan’s glancing header roll into his own net, despite a last ditch attempt from Neil Marshall on the line.
However, as the rain started to fall and the wet surface began to quicken the tempo of the game, City got a foothold and from then on dominated.
On 43 minutes, Lancaster finally got a deserved equaliser after an amazing 40-yard weaving run from Alex Meaney who slipped a ball through to Hattersley who deftly lifted the ball over visiting ‘keeper Dickinson.
City took less than 90 seconds of the re-start to take the lead as Duggan scored at the right end, heading home a free kick from six yards between Dickinson’s legs.
City then had all the possession, but created few chances until the 73rd minute when a Ryan Elderton free-kick was deflected into the Ossett net by the Town full back Henson to put the game beyond doubt at 3-1.
The introductions of Billy McKenna and Lee Dodgson ensured the Dolly Blues maintained their domination of possession and on 84 minutes the impressive Clark completed the victory with a brilliant run cutting inside from the right flank before powerfully firing the ball past Dickinson to cap off the most convincing win of the season.
