Callum Robinson struck twice with Ben Pringle scoring a stunner and Jordan Hugill powering home a header as the Championship side’s superior quality told on the night.

Tom Barkhuizen was on target for The Shrimps with Bentley largely pleased with what he saw.

He said: “We started well in the first 15 or 20 minutes and some of things we’d worked on worked well for us.

“Credit where credit’s due, certainly with the Pringle goal, that was a different league though.

“Some of the football they played was excellent too. We’ve come up against a good Championship side and good Championship players.

“There’s loads of positives but a couple of things that we need to work on as well.

“That’s part and parcel of pre-season. It’s not about results, we want to win and we have won a couple in pre-season which is nice but we’ve lost a couple and conceded a few goals.

“Tonight we’ve come up against good opposition who have put us to the sword when they could.

“It was a good workout for us and we’ve only got a couple of bumps and bruises which are okay.”
