The goalkeeper headed in Shaun Miller’s 94th-minute corner to seal a 1-1 draw and set off jubilant scenes as the Globe Arena.

It was a goal that also ended The Shrimps’ run of three straight League 2 defeats.

Bentley said: “We’re not a bad side but there’s been a bit of doom and gloom.

“I understand it’s a results business but I looked at the two home games we lost (against Mansfield and Newport) in depth and how we lost both of them is beyond me.

“Tonight we kept plugging away and kept going and at times it just takes something like that to happen.

“What a great end to a decent game in difficult conditions and I think it’s what we deserved.

“How mad is it that a goalkeeper can have two shots on target because he nearly scored with the wind-assisted clearance in the first half.

“The big man’s gone up and got his head on it and the celebrations were great at the end.

“It feels like we’ve won the game but it’s a point on the board and hopefully it’s a turning point now.”
