Jamie Devitt believes confidence has never been higher at Morecambe ahead of Saturday’s trip to Yeovil.

The Irishman has played a key role fine wins against Notts County and Walsall over the last week with The Shrimps heading to Huish Park in high spirits.

Devitt said: “All the lads are buzzing around.

“The gaffer’s (Jim Bentley) just been in there trying to calm us down a little bit, it’s banter really, but everyone’s spirits are high.

“I don’t think we’re going to fear anybody.

“If we can go to Portsmouth and score three goals the way we did, play against Walsall the way we did and even Sheffield United.

“Last year we were up and down. Away from home we were full of confidence but at home it wasn’t quite the same.

“But the confidence is sky high at the minute and hopefully it can just continue.”

The midfielder has scored two in two and knows it is a side of his game that needed to improve.

Devitt said: “That’s what I needed to bring more into my game.

“I haven’t scored as much as I’d like so I’m just happy to be scoring and setting goals up because that’s what someone in my position needs to do.”

His goals have been a part of some fine attacking displays which the 25-year-old hopes will bring the crowds in.

Devitt said: “We have been playing some really good and exciting football.

“Hopefully it can bring some of the fans back.

“It does seem like we’ve lost a few so hopefully word gets around that we are playing good and exciting football.”

The two wins in a week have come at a time when Morecambe are more stretched than ever.

With Ryan Edwards and Kevin Ellison returning from bans this weekend, Devitt is looking forward to The Shrimps being stronger.

He said: “The results show the strength that we have.

“For the small club that we are, we have a small squad but there’s a lot of quality in there.

“The likes of Charlie Bailey came on and he didn’t give the ball away once and that’s the way Charlie is.

“It was the same with Nathan (Bondswell) they were both excellent.

“We have missed Kev and Ryan and they’ll come back in and make us stronger which bodes well for the future.

“We’re just looking forward to Saturday. We just can’t wait for every game now the way we’re playing.”
