SHRIMPS’ boss Jim Bentley has received a major blow this week with the news that Paul Scott could be out of action for up to six months.
Scott, who made just eight starts last season after being signed from Bury, is having another operation this week on the knee that ruined his first season for the Shrimps last year.
He is one of a number of Shrimps players who have been suffering with knocks.
Bentley said: “You really have to feel for Paul Scott because he has had a couple of operations on his knee already and it is still causing him problems.
“There is a slight hope that they may be able to use keyhole surgery which would be better for everyone but we will just have to wait and see how it goes.”
Looking at the rest of his squad he said: “Andy Fleming is recovering well after his ankle injury and Gary McDonald has a slight hamstring twinge but we won’t rush them back.
“Kevin Ellison is running and Kieran Charnock is hopefully going to be available at the weekend but we will keep an eye on them all.”
