Captain Mark Hughes is Morecambe’s main injury doubt ahead of Portsmouth’s visit to the Globe Arena on Saturday.

The central defender went off with a hamstring injury in the Good Friday draw with Accrington, missing the win at Bury on Easter Monday.

His replacement Alan Goodall then had to be replaced at half-time against the Shakers as he also battles a hamstring problem.

Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “We’ve got one or two little knocks and bumps and bruises in the squad but it’s that time of year.

“Games have come thick and fast over Easter and obviously we’ve got three games in this week now as well with York away on Tuesday night.

“We’ll need everyone fit and available so if there’s anyone with any niggles we won’t be risking them because there’s a lot of football to be played over the next seven to 10 days.

“But for Saturday we’ll just have to assess Hughesy and Alan Goodall.”

Bentley gave his players two days off on Tuesday and Wednesday after the Easter Monday win at Bury.
