ASSISTANT boss Mark Lillis said Morecambe would come out fighting after suffering their second successive away defeat.

After a poor defeat to struggling Hereford, Lillis said his players would be working hard in training this week to get back to winning ways against Macclesfield at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

He said: “It’s disappointing to lose again because we were just getting on a bit of a run after three successive wins. But we gave away two bad goals and were made to pay.

“The lads are all down but we will do all we can to pick them up before this weekend in training.

“We will work hard to lift the spirits and get it right because it is a big game for us now on Saturday.

“The games are coming thick and fast and it is important that we make home advantage count on Saturday and get another win at the Globe.’’

In the end this was another defeat where Morecambe only had themselves to blame.

Hereford, who had won their last four games, took advantage of two moments of defensive madness by the Shrimps which proved decisive.

The first half looked to be heading for a goalless draw until the home side scored just before the break on a counter.

Morecambe had pushed bodies forward and were left short at the back leaving Colbeck a free run on goal after being superbly found by Kenny Lunt and he made no mistake with a cool finish.

After a poor first half the Shrimps fought back after the break and were level on 52 minutes with a well worked goal.

Jevons played in Stewart Drummond with a delightful flick and the midfielder scored at the second attempt after his first effort was blocked by Bartlett.

Morecambe were enjoying their best spell but were behind again just after the hour after some more poor defending.

Colbeck turned provider with a cross from the right and home skipper Michael Townsend was left all alone in the box to direct a free header past Roche.

Morecambe looked to get back into the game with Chris Shuker shooting horribly wide after creating a good opening for himself in the box and Jevons heading a good Adam Rundle cross over the bar at full stretch.

At the other end Roche had to be at his best again to save smartly from Jake Jervis as the home side threatened to extend their advantage as the Shrimps could not find a way back into the game.
