IN the Baines Bagguely North Lancashire and District Football League Premier Division, the leading two both had easy wins.

Highgrove played really well as they overwhelmed Caton, fighting to avoid relegation.

Highgrove played as well as they have done all season with Caton unable to get into the game.

Highgrove’s goals were scored by Scott King (3), full-back Russell Mitchell (2), Rikki Ball (2) and Luke Bradley scored, Caton’s consolation was scored by Joe Airey.

Galgate had a much harder game than Highgrove when they entertained an inconsistent Storeys.

But it was Storeys who took the first half honours when they turned round leading by 2-0 after Ellis Howson had scored both goals.

Storeys lead was very much against the run of play with Galgate being caught out of position on both occasions and also having a goal disallowed.

The second half was so much different as Galgate took control, Cragg and Wilson controlled midfield, Galgate’s back four were also playing well and restricting Storeys to long range efforts.

Galgate started to turn the screw, Lee Fox scored twice before Steve Cudworth scored the goal of the game, a Richard Wilson inch perfect cross was superbly headed into the Storeys’ net by Cudworth to give his side the leadVictory was ensured when the hard working Chris Gardner scored his side’s fourth goal.
