The Shrimps midfielder played in goal for the final 15 minutes of the 5-2 defeat against Hartlepool on Saturday after Barry Roche’s red card.

Ex-Globe Arena front man Jack Sampson surpassed that on Tuesday night though, donning the gloves for 86 minutes and keeping a clean sheet in Macclesfield’s 0-0 National League draw with Dover.

Richie Branagan’s early red card forced the striker into action between the sticks with Sampson excelling, particularly in the first half.

The former Bolton youngster joined The Shrimps in the summer of 2013 but struggled to nail down a regular starting spot during his two years with the club.

Sampson then joined the Silkmen after a successful loan spell and can now add a clean sheet to the three goals he has scored so far this season.
