Former Morecambe goalkeeper Tony Thompson has joined National League side Chester until the end of the season.
The former Rotherham youngster left the Globe Arena earlier this month at the end of his short-term contract and has swiftly linked up with Steve Burr’s side.
Thompson, 21, was signed by Jim Bentley in the summer as an understudy to Barry Roche and made two first-team appearances.
He came on in the 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge for his Football League debut before starting the 2-0 defeat at Fleetwood in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Thompson has since been replaced by Manchester United youngster Kieran O’Hara who has joined the club on loan until the end of the season.
