Jim Bentley will be amongst the names visiting an amateur football club to celebrate a special anniversary.
A team of Galgate FC veterans will take on a team of Football League veterans to commemorate both the village side and the league celebrating their 125th birthdays this year.
Morecambe boss Bentley, Shrimps physio Simon Farnworth and former Lancaster City joint bosses Michael Stringfellow and Neil Wainwright will be amongst the visiting team lining up at Galgate’s Recreation Field on Monday night.
Chairman Ken Beales said: “The Football League got in touch and asked if we wanted a game and we said ‘that’s wonderful’.
“I think it’s something they do and it makes sense with it being their anniversary too.”
The North Lancashire league side look set to celebrate their birthday year with a best-ever finish in the Premier Division.
Ken, a former Galgate player himself, said: “We’re hoping to be runners-up.
“But whether we finish in second or third it will be our best-ever season in the Premier Division.
“We used to win the old division one fairly regularly but since the Premier Division was formed we haven’t been this high up.
“We’ve done really well and with the match on Monday it’s all quite exciting.”
The veterans game, on May 13, will be refereed by local Football League official Paul Kettlewell and kicks off at 7pm with everyone welcome.
The club’s anniversary celebrations continue with a reunion dinner on Saturday, May 18, in Garstang.
