Morecambe midfielder Stewart Drummond has signed a new one-year contract and been appointed as the League Two club’s head of youth.
Drummond had previously been reserve-team manager at the Globe Arena.
“I’m still focusing on playing,” the 38-year-old told the club website. But I am also looking forward to overseeing the youth set-up with the idea of bringing more talent through.”
Manager Jim Bentley said he was happy to have Drummond on board for the forthcoming season.
“He’s been an excellent servant to the club and still has a lot to offer, not only as a player but in other roles and responsibilities throughout the club.”
Meanwhile, chairman Peter McGuigan has announced that he will also take on the role of chief executive.
