Stewart Drummond is set to miss the rest of the season after fracturing his toe.

The Morecambe veteran picked up the injury in the 1-1 draw at Dagenham on Saturday and missed the 5-1 drubbing at Accrington on Tuesday night as a result.

Andy Parrish and Shaun Beeley also missed out through injury with Andy Fleming serving the second game of his two-match ban and Shrimps boss Jim Bentley believes his side missed their key players at the Store First Stadium.

He said: “It looks (like Drummond will miss the rest of the season), he’s fractured his toe.

“Parrish luckily has only got a partial tear of his cruciate which is two to four weeks but we missed them both tonight.

“Fleming’s arguably been our best player this year and he’ll come back in on Saturday (against Northampton at the Globe Arena) without a doubt.
“And Beeley’s out too. Whoever goes out on Saturday is going to have to put this right because I’m looking for a reaction.

“I’m sick of saying that too after what happened in the Plymouth game but we’ll ask questions again because we need a response.”
