The club’s in-demand player of the year turned down a new contract offer at the Globe Arena to move to the Cumbrians on a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old playmaker, League 2’s top assist maker last season, said: “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone connected with Morecambe FC.

“You have made my two years with the club very enjoyable and it has been a pleasure to play for your club.

“From the gaffer (Jim Bentley) to Kenny (McKenna, assistant) to the kit men Les (Dewhirst) and Tommy (Sawyer) to the people upstairs and to the fans you have made my family and me feel very welcome and I will always remember that.

“I have made some special friends and that dressing room last season was very special with an amazing set of lads.

“Thank you for everything and I wish you the best of luck and look forward to returning to the Globe to face you and see everybody.

“Thank you for everything and good luck.”
