The Dolly Blues defender returned to Giant Axe last summer almost a decade after leaving for Chorley.

Hoping to spearhead a promotion push in the NPL Premier Division, Teague has been left kicking his heels for the majority of the campaign with the Covid-19 pandemic wreaking havoc.

Teague (35) has only played a handful of games for City – a three-match suspension also hindering his game time before the season was brought to a halt at the beginning of November.

With news that the National League North season has been declared null and void, the Northern Premier League has followed suit.

Teague admits it has been frustrating especially as the team was just starting to hit its stride after a slow start.

“Coming to Lancaster has been great,” said Teague, who helped City finish second in the old First Division North in 2009-10 during his first spell before they were agonisingly beaten in the play-off final by Colwyn Bay.

“I already knew quite a lot of the lads.

“The manager Mark Fell has been great with me and my team-mates have welcomed me.

“Training has been good and we were just starting to find a bit of momentum before the season got halted.

“We feel like we have got some unfinished business.

“The target was to get promoted this season and that’s one of the reasons why I rejoined the club.

“I probably could have stayed at Chorley but I wanted a different challenge – I wanted to challenge myself.

“I haven’t come to City to see out my career, I have come to carry on winning which I have done all of my career."

Fell has been in charge at City since October 2018 and Teague admits he has been impressed with how his boss goes about his business.

“He is very thorough in his preparations,” said Teague.

“He knows what he wants from his team and has a certain way in which he wants to play.

“It worked well from the previous season so hopefully it will work well again.

“We have got Rob Henry who has come in as coach and there’s also Graham Lancashire, the assistant, so there’s a good backroom team in place.

“Everything is done professionally and it’s just a shame that we have not been able to continue this season and it’s gone the way it has.”
