MORECAMBE manager Jim Bentley has confirmed the club have offered a new deal to popular midfielder Craig Stanley.

But it appears Stanley, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Torquay, sees his future on the south coast.

The Visitor exclusively revealed last week that new boss Bentley had been in negotiations with the former Hereford man in an attempt to keep him at the club.

And it now appears the new boss has made his move.

Speaking at a fans’ forum at the Globe Arena last night, Wednesday, Bentley said: “We have made an offer. I do like Craig and I know the fans love him. He is a great lad and a good player and we have made him an offer and we will do all we can to keep him here.”

However with Torquay in Saturday’s League 2 play-off final it appears Stanley may prefer to return to the Gulls next season.

Speaking to Torquay defender Kevin Nicholson on his Twitter account, Stanley said: “Cheers kev if dont c u sat make sure u get promoted and hopefully c u next year!”

Bentley also said the club had offered deals to Will Haining and Lawrence Wilson.
