Lancaster City picked up a decent away point at Brighouse Town in Phil Brown’s opening league game at the helm with a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

he Dolly Blues equalised twice through Ryan Winder’s penalty and a cracking injury time finish by Aaron Taylor, cancelling out two disappointing goals to concede.

It wasn’t long until the hosts took the lead with Daniel Facey dancing through the City defence too easily down the left hand side and setting up Ryan Hall to smash into the roof of the net via a

A measured long ball by Garry Hunter saw Aaron Taylor being clattered by Brighouse keeper Hagreen,Winder converting the penalty to equalise.

City will have been even more disappointed with the nature of the second Town goal, Adam Wilson breezing in at the near post to head home from a corner.

Lancaster were the ones pressing in the second half but looked liable to conceding on the counter. Billy Akrigg had the best chance to level, breezing past two men and opting to try and chip Hagreen but not putting enough on it.

It was positive play by Reece Pearce which led to the equaliser deep into stoppage time, charging at the full back and getting a bit of lucky break back into his path before drilling into the feet of Taylor, who took two touches before curling brilliantly into the top corner to earn a deserved point.
