Blackpool boss Bowyer hails work of Jim Bentley at Morecambe

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, one of only four English managers in the top flight, came out this week and said English managers do not receive enough recognition, especially when compared to their foreign counterparts.

And as he prepares to come up against another fellow English boss in League Twon on Saturday Bowyer echoed Dyche’s sentiments and says he is surprised a higher league club has not swooped for Bentley due to his impressive management on one of the lowest budgets in the Football League.

He said: “Morecambe had a fabulous win the other night (5-4 over Rotherham in the EFL Cup).

“I read a very good article by Sean Dyche about English managers and it is something that I firmly believe as well and if you look at my first two games in this league I have come up against two very experienced managers.

“(Exeter boss) Paul Tisdale last week and Jim Bentley this week.

“In my opinion Jim does not get the credit he deserves for the job that he has done there.

“It has been fantastic and he deserves all the plaudits that he should get, to be in the job as long as he has done, to produce the players that he has done and get them taken off him with people being sold or people nicking them off him and he just keeps going and produces results like he did the other night.

“That just highlights the challenge that we face on Saturday.

“Here is someone who has done it with limited resources and plays the right way and I’m surprised that people in the higher leagues don’t take notice of what has gone on at Morecambe because he has done a fabulous job there.”

Jack Redshaw will not be part of the Blackpool squad, the former Shrimps front man missing out on Globe Arena return due to shin splints.

Bowyer said: “Jack has had a recurrence of what has happened last year with his shins.

“Every footballer loves the start of the season and everybody wants to be involved, sadly at the moment it is not the case for him but hopefully this time we have got to the bottom of it, we are not going to rush him and make sure he gets back ready to perform for us on a consistent basis injury free.”
