Ryan Williams could move abroad according to Morecambe boss Jim Bentley.

The midfielder, currently out injured after a hernia operation, has seen playing time limited this season and is out of contract in the summer.

Bentley revealed a fans’ forum on Thursday that the popular 24-year-old has been the subject of interest from clubs on the continent and could make a move there in the summer.

The Shrimps boss said: “He wants to play regular football.

“We don’t think he’s been playing as well as others in his position.

“He had a hamstring injury for six or seven weeks and I don’t think he’s rediscovered his best form.

“As a person he’s a great kid and he’s desperate to get on.

“He’s had options in a couple of countries where his technical style of play might be more suited.

“It could be that that’s where he’ll go and play in the future.”

Also at the fan gathering last Thursday night, Bentley revealed that Barry Roche could feature in a reserve team game before the end of the season.

The Shrimps number one is making excellent progress as he recovers from hip surgery that has ruled him out for most of the campaign.

Bentley said: “He’s worked extremely hard and is probably in the best condition he’s ever been in.

“He could be ready to feature in a reserve game in the next two or three weeks.”
