After a poor start to the season the Grecians travel to the Globe Arena on Sunday on the back of a 2-1 win over top of the table Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night.

Bentley said: “They did start particularly poorly.

“They’ve had financial problems but they’ve got a really good youth set up and it’s reaping rewards.

“They’ve got one player in (Matt) Grimes who is getting some interest from Championship level. He’s a good player in the middle of the park for them.

“They’ve picked up form, it’s almost as if the young lads have clicked. Maybe it’s taken time for them to take on board what’s been asked of them.

“They’ve still got one or two experienced lads in there the likes of (Matt) Oakley and players like that who’ve been around a bit.
“The manager (Paul Tisdale) knows what the level’s all about, they play good football and have had some fantastic wins, beating Wycombe the other day who are top of the table.

“We won’t be underestimating them and it’ll be a tough game.”

On the injury front, on-loan ‘keeper Scott Davies will come in for Barry Roche while Laurence Wilson is set to return at left back with Joe Widdowson’s spell at the Globe Arena coming to an end.

Jamie Devitt’s torn hamstring is set to rule him out until Christmas while there are also doubts over Alan Goodall and Kevin Ellison for the Shrimps’ first ever Football League game on a Sunday.

Bentley said: “Alan Goodall’s made good progress so he’ll be in and around the squad, if not on Sunday he’ll certainly be right for the Accrington game (next Friday night).

“Ellison’’s got a little bit of a hamstring so whether we risk him we’ll have to wait and see.

“They’re just little niggles at the moment but we’ll dust them down and do what’s right with the physio.”
