NEW Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says he wants Craig Stanley to stay at the Globe Arena.

The popular midfielder looked sure to be heading out of the door this summer after being allowed to join Torquay on loan by Sammy McIlroy in what proved to be an unpopular decision with fans.

Stanley went on to star for the Gulls as they secured a play-off place and he seemed odds on to move to the south coast in the summer.

But Bentley says he wants Stanley to consider staying in the area with the Shrimps.

He said: “Craig Stanley is the sort of player I want around the club.

“He has been great for us since he has been here and I would love him to sign for us. He is the type of player I want. He loves Morecambe and the fans and he is a passionate footballer who hates losing.”
