Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is hoping to bring in two new faces on Thursday’s loan deadline day.
The Shrimps boss wants to further strengthen in defensive areas having brought in Ryan Edwards from Blackburn Rovers and is confident of getting some business done before the 5pm cut off.
Bentley said: “It’s deadline day today and I’m hoping to get a couple in if I’m perfectly honest.
“In defensive areas we haven’t been good enough and if we can get someone in who can play in a couple of positions that would be great and then we’d have to see what the financial situation is and if we’ve got anything left.
“There might be room for something else further up the field too.
“I want a little bit of everything really because we’re not out of the woods yet and there’s a lot of football to be played.
“It’s also a chance to have a look at players for next season.
“If I can bring a couple in today I will and we’re close on two so we’ll see how the day progresses.”
Bentley has been impressed by Edwards’ performances on the field and how he has fit in to the Globe Arena dressing room.
He said: “Ryan’s been great and has come in no problem.
“He’s gone straight in to a car school with Kevin Ellison and Mark Hughes so it hasn’t been a problem for him.
“He’s a likeable lad, a good pro and he’s played well in the last two games for us.
“Hopefully he can be a good asset and continue to do well for the time that he’s here.”
