Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has revealed he has a couple of targets in mind with the loan window opening on Friday.
The Shrimps manager might have room to manoeuvre in the transfer market after wide man Izak Reid left the club by mutual consent on Wednesday.
He said: “There might be room for a loan signing.
“I’ll have to sit down with the chairman and see what’s what with finances, if we’ve got any pennies to bring someone in.
“I’m not just going to bring someone in for the sake of it because at the moment the squad is quite small but everyone is pretty much fit and well apart from Danny Carlton.
“We’re not desperate but we’ve got a couple of targets, and have a couple for next season as well, so if the right person comes along and it’s good for the team it might be an option.”
Bentley said he was disappointed things hadn’t turned out as expected for Reid, who has seen his first-team time limited in recent weeks.
The Shrimps boss said: “I’m disappointed it didn’t work out for him.
“He’s a nice lad and a good pro. He came to the club as one of my first signings and did really well up until his hernia operation and then he was a little bit up and down until the end of the season.
“It hasn’t really happened for him as much as he would have liked this season. These things happen, we shook hands, we’ve gone our separate ways and we wish him luck.
“The main factor is the travelling he’s been doing. He comes from Stoke and it gets a bit harder when you’re not playing in the team and then travelling an extra day to play for the reserves.
“He’s not really enjoying his football and the travelling is getting to him, so we thought it was best for both parties if we went our separate ways.”
