Morecambe boss Jim Bentley said his side’s victory over York was one of the highlights of the season so far.
Two late Jack Redshaw goals gave the Shrimps their biggest win of the campaign and took them 10 points clear off the bottom two, much to Bentley’s delight.
He said: “The scoreline may have flattered us but it was one of those days where everything went right.
“I have said all along that there is a fine line between success and failure and we have just fallen the wrong side of that line on several occasions.
“But we got it right in this game and clinched a great win. We had a game plan and it worked a treat as we came away worthy winners.
“We knew we would have to sacrifice possession against a team who like to pass the ball but we were strong and we were resolute.
“We always thought we could hit them on the break and that is just what we did.
“There were a lot of positives all over the park and a lot we can build on. We have got a nice bit of something going on here at the moment and I hope that can continue.”
