Jim Bentley admits his is “desperate” to keep goalkeeper Barry Roche at Morecambe.
The Shrimps number one is out of contract in the summer with club and player yet to finalise a new deal for the popular Irishman.
Bentley however is working hard to make sure to the 32-year-old is still at the Globe Arena next season.
The Morecambe boss said: “I’m keen to keep him.
“We’ve had discussions over the last couple of months and he’s an unbelievable professional who’s coming into his prime as a goalkeeper. “I’m desperate to keep him, I respect him, he works hard and has lost a lot of weight in the three years that I’ve been the manager and I think that’s enhanced his performances.
“He’s a crowd favourite and he’s definitely one of the players we’re working hard to keep.”
Roche arrived at the Shrimps from Chesterfield in the summer of 2008 and has made more than 250 appearances for the club.
