Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has revealed that several loan moves for striker Jack Sampson have fallen through in recent weeks.

The Shrimps’ big number nine has seen his playing time limited this season but banged in a hat-trick in the reserves’ 5-1 win over Port Vale at the Globe Arena on Monday.

Bentley said: “Fair play to him, he did well.

“He hasn’t played much football and has had quite a few offers to go out on loan but they haven’t materialised for one reason or another.

“All players need to be playing football and there have been some decent clubs looking at him but things didn’t work out.”

The Football League loan window closes today with no expected incomings at the Globe Arena after Danny Ward and Aaron Wildig arrived last Friday from Liverpool and Shrewsbury respectively.
