MORECAMBE may have seen their eight match unbeaten run come to an end with defeat against Bristol Rovers on Saturday but boss Jim Bentley says there is still plenty to celebrate after a memorable opening 10 games.
The Shrimps went down 3-2 in a thriller against the Pirates at the Globe Arena but with Rotherham suffering a shock 4-0 home defeat to Southend, Bentley’s side remain top of League 2 on goal difference, much to his delight.
He said: “We have looked back on Saturday’s game and viewed the tapes and I still don’t know how we didn’t get anything from the game.
“Apart from the disallowed goal they basically had three chances and scored from them all while we had plenty of chances at the end to get back into it, hitting the post and then two or three other good opportunities.
“Overall we played well, it was an exciting game and I think everyone who was there will have enjoyed the atmosphere, if not the result.
“The fans were magnificent on Saturday.
“They brought in the flags and gave the place some real colour, they made a terrific noise and they clapped the lads off which was nice because I think they know they gave their all.
“They created the sort of atmosphere we would love to have week in week out because it makes a massive difference.
