The Lancaster-born goalkeeper made his first League 2 start in 17 months in the stalemate at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

Arestidou got his chance after Scott Davies returned to Fleetwood at the end of his loan spell with finances dictating the Shrimps were unable to extend the Wembley winner’s deal.

Bentley said: “He looked certain and he looked confident.

“I said to him, don’t change your game, don’t try and impress.

“Be yourself, be vocal and enjoy the challenge. He’s been waiting for a long time for Baz (Roche) to either loose form or get injured.

“When Baz did then get injured Stav was injured too and we had to bring Scott Davies in.

“Scott’s been superb for us and Andreas knows that but for one reason or another we can’t bring Scotty back at the moment.

“So this is Stav’s chance and for him to come in with that wind, his handling was assured and he looked steady and confident throughout.”
