Morecambe have completed the signing of Adam Dugdale from Tranmere Rovers.

The 27-year-old central defender has joined the Shrimps on a one year deal with an option for a further year.

He becomes the latest addition to Jim Bentley’s squad and joins fellow summer recruits Tom Barkhuizen, Lee Molyneux, Peter Murphy and Aaon Wildig at the Globe Arena.

Former Crewe defender Dugdale said Morecambe management pair of Jim Bentley and Ken McKenna were the reason for making the move.

He said: “I have known Ken McKenna for a long time and we have always kept in touch. When I met him and the gaffer they really sold the club to me.

“I have always had the utmost respect for Kenny and everyone I know speaks really highly of Jim Bentley and I was really happy to sign

“Everyone knows Morecambe is a really well run club and I can’t wait to get going.’

Shrimps’ boss Jim Bentley said: “He’s a real leader and as well as being a good defender can play the ball from the back and should really settle into our style of play.’’
